The Rev. David Roseberry
Saturday Afternoon Sermon

David H. Roseberry is the founding rector and senior pastor of
Christ Church in Plano, Texas. He arrived in Plano in 1985 with the
vision of planting a new Episcopal church for the growing community.
The new church was built on the principles of lay ministry,
evangelistic preaching, and small group ministry. Now a member of
the Anglican Mission in the Americas (AMiA), Christ Church welcomes
approximately 2,000 visitors per weekend.
David is a graduate of the University of Arizona, and received his
Master of Divinity degree from the Church Divinity School of the
Pacific in 1982. He has been an ordained priest since 1983. David
and his wife, Fran, have six children (including two
children-in-law) and four grandchildren.

Celebrating God's Faithfulness
The
49th Annual Convention of the Diocese of San Joaquin promises to
model a whole new approach to our being together as God’s people.
For some years, now, the business of Convention has dominated our
time and attention. With the new freedom we have found serving as a
constituent member of the Province of the Southern Cone, we are able
to focus on what God is setting out before us. We are indeed
privileged to have the Rev. David Roseberry, Rector of the largest
Anglican Church in the United States as our guest speaker and Bible
Study leader. It was in his parish, Christ Church, Plano that a
message from the then Cardinal Ratzinger first encouraged the
thousands that gathered there to remain faithful to the orthodox
faith and practice of the Church. Under his leadership, Christ
Church, Plano, Texas led the way to freedom. It is out of that
background that he will be speaking and preaching at our convention.
With a new atmosphere, instead of the formal banquets of the past, a
barbecue dinner will be served on the grounds of St. James’
Cathedral Friday evening. Saturday morning begins with a study of
God’s Word to us. Even the shortened business sessions will be
lightened with the admission of new missions within the Diocese
applying for recognition and union with the Diocesan Convention.
Music will be provided by various groups including a youth choir,
praise bands, and brass ensemble for the closing Eucharist on
Saturday October 25th.
God continues to be faithful to us in San Joaquin. This is our
opportunity with delegates and members of our parishes and missions
to respond to Him in adoration and praise. |
