CAMP H2O 2008
By Daniel Marker
Camp H2O returned to ECCO for it’s
eighth year. Students from all over the valley and from Texas and
Petaluma came to participate in all the camp activities which took
place on July 20-26.
This year’s theme was “The Start” and
students went deep with God to begin a journey that Paul calls the
race in 1Corinthians 9:24. As athletes train for their sports,
campers trained themselves in the way that God desires.
The camp welcomed powerful speakers
whom included: Fr. John Riebe, Fr. Don Cleave, Fr. Bruce Taylor, Fr.
Bill & Sue Gandenberger, Dr. Cyndi Telander, Greg & Claudia
Walgenbach, Fr. Carlos & Carol Raines, John Miller, Bernice
Mitchell, June Waltenberger, Christina Raines and Elana Orr. Through
various workshops and extreme teachings, campers went deep with who
God is and what He desires for our lives.
Two powerful nights came on Tuesday
and Wednesday with testimonies from counselors and Fr. Bruce
Taylor’s message on the Holy Spirit and Spiritual Warfare. God
showed up and as one camper put it, “God is here!” God began to work
throughout the camp and lives of young people were moved to Christ.
A student from the leadership team
was healed of an ankle injury that she had sustained for many years
while other campers received the Holy Spirit for the first time.
Many campers came with their heavy burdens and broken lives and laid
them at the foot of the cross for Christ to heal them.
As my second year directing the camp
I was blessed beyond my expectations and I urge you to continue
praying for the young people who attended this year’s Camp H2O.
I would also like to give a big
thanks to Fr. Bill & Sue Gandenberger for all their hard work and
all the counselors and leaders who attended to make this year’s camp
one of the best. God truly worked in the lives of the young people
this year and H2O was another blessing for our youth.
